A MarketMan alternative built for one cafe on Square
Your Square register logs what sold. It does not log what you used: the oat milk that went in when a customer swapped, the extra shot, the matcha you scooped. What MarketMan is built for
Photograph a supplier invoice and the line items land with their prices. Starter at $249 gives you 50 of those scans a month; Growth at $299 takes the cap off. Square sells a version of it from inside your Square dashboard, on your Square bill. That launched April 2, 2026.
What each drink actually used
Count last week's invoices before you price any of this. At a cafe that is six or eight, several of them one line: milk. MarketMan's scanner is priced around a stack I do not have. My money goes out at the bar. Forty-seven iced matcha lattes takes 94g of matcha, 564 oz of oat milk, and 47 cups off the shelf. A dozen of those got swapped to whole milk at the register. An invoice records what arrived. The pour is not on it.

Where MarketMan wins
Run two shops and I am not your answer yet. MarketMan's add-on is $99 a month per location, and it rides on a Square plan that starts at $49, so $148 before anyone counts anything. Parly runs one cafe, on Square, and has no second-store view. Parly reads an invoice to update a pack cost, and that is where it stops. It will not pay the bill or close your month. There is no QuickBooks or Xero connection, so your bookkeeper gets a CSV and does the rest by hand. Square sells MarketMan's version from inside your Square dashboard, on your Square bill. You would have to find Parly on your own. If your week is supplier invoices and closing the books, that is MarketMan's job. Buy it.
Choose MarketMan if
- You run more than one location, or plan to soon.
- Supplier invoices pile up on your desk, and closing the month eats an evening.
- You want invoice scans you never have to ration, plus the direct vendor link MarketMan calls EDI.
Choose Parly if
- Oat swaps and extra shots come off your shelf and never off your receipt.
- You want the morning count to become the supplier order, sent before the cutoff.

Does a single cafe on Square need MarketMan?
Only if supplier invoices and closing the month are the hard part of your week, or you run more than one location. MarketMan is priced by the location, from $249 a month standalone as of October 12, 2026. One cafe that mostly needs its count turned into each supplier's order can start with Parly at $59 a month on its current Square plan.
How is Parly different from MarketMan?
MarketMan starts from the invoice: what arrived and what it cost. Parly starts from the Square ticket, modifiers included, so an oat swap comes off the oat line, and it turns your count into each supplier's order for you to confirm. Square's page says its MarketMan add-on also tracks recipes, batch recipes and modifiers (as of October 12, 2026), so ask both to demo an oat swap on a latte.
